Peasantism was one of the main ideological discourses of Republican elites in Turkey as of the 1930s. Ahmet Kutsi Tecer’s (1901 – 1967) poem “There is a Village Far Away” can be seen as the climax of the peasantist literature. However, today the idea of returning to nature itself has been highly commercialized. Following this, many villages have become touristic spots in the course of time that people can have “organic” and “authentic” breakfast.
